After Saturday's qualifying session in the over 30 degree heat,
Delehay and his PM Motorsports team are sitting in the number one
spot with a 6.26 @ 232 mph.
"We have had issues all weekend" said Joe, "From transmission issues
to electrical issues", "After qualifying we figured out what was
wrong and we are all prepared for tomorrows eliminations" says
Delehay.
With Saturday's qualifying being 30 degree weather and Sunday's
eliminations forecasted to be even warmer the PM Motorsports team, as
well as the rest of the WCPMA field, are expecting a battle on
Sunday.
Sunday Eliminations

The first round of eliminations saw Delehay paired against Perry
Thyr, Delehay got caught sleeping at the lights which gave Thyr two
tenths of a advantage but it still wasn't enough as Delehay got the
win light with a 6.25 @ 233 mph to Perry's 6.77 @ 211 mph.

In the second round of eliminations Delehay defeated Tom Johanns,
Delehay's car ripped another 6.25 @ 232 mph to Johanns 6.60 @ 218
mph.

In the final round of eliminations Delehay faced the number 2
qualifier Dan Vogt who is notorious for cutting near perfect lights.
Vogt left the tree a little early (.003) and turned on the red light
giving the win to consistent Delehay who ran a 6.26 @ 232 mph. After
the final round Delehay and team were informed that due to a new
rule change which makes the min. weight for blown entries at 25 lbs
heavier than last year he was also Disqualified due to being 10 lbs
under weight. "We cant blame any one but ourselves" said Delehay,
"I'm mad at myself for not knowing about the rule change". After the
WCPMA Official discussed the situation with the IHRA Tech Department
Delehay was declared the winner of the race as Vogt was disqualified
first. WCPMA officials then reversed their decision and have given
the win to Dan Vogt.
